biography

Mark (Thinawan) Gibson was born in Moree in 1962. His tribe is Kamilario and Bundjalung. He was the middle child of thirteen and now lives and works with his family in Grafton. Throughout his life he has travelled and worked all over the country. He now creates paintings based on his life experiences, both good and bad. Many of his paintings feature native animals and are informed by his Indigenous heritage and perspective.

He has exhibited his work in several group exhibitions: Kamilaroi at Boomali Gallery Sydney, the National Parks and Wildlife Inigenous Art Award
in 2007 and was exhibition winner at Grafton Show in 2007
