biography

Noel Kenneth Caldwell, also known as Charlie, lives and paints in Casino NSW. Charlie has been painting since he was 15 and draws his inspiration from his Aboriginal heritage. His paintings often feature local bush tucker such as 'Gwee-ahnj' (possum), 'Njamahls' (Goanna) and 'Bingings' (Turtles). His paintings also depict ceremonies and the traditional Bundjalung way of life. Charlie's works refelct his flair for colour and design, and combine traditional dot painting techniques with a more contemporary illustrative style, giving his work it's own unique flavour.
