artist profile
As a proud Wahlubal Tribe person from the Upper Clarence River area in the Bundjalung Nation, Northern New South Wales Australia I paint the stories of our old people. In my art I express the nature of what we learnt and where taught about by our elders regarding all the different ways of our culture. I explore traditional methods of painting through collecting earth pigments (ochres) from my traditional lands. The imagery I depict in my works tell stories of traditional food sources, nutritional values of bush tucker, meeting places and gathering places for hunting these food sources. Through my work I aim to bridge a gap between the traditional and the contemporary ways indigenous people link to land and country.
